My mom will tell you I’ve always wanted to be a teacher and that’s true I’ve always loved working with kids, in high school I did ready, set, teach and had an amazing teacher to teach me how teachers do what they do, then I got to help at local schools which was my favorite. After I graduated I decided I would be a teacher and started college, I started working at the Midland college’s children’s center in January 2011 as a work-study a Few hours after classes and quickly fell in love with early childhood. Soon the excitement of college life faded and I would rather spend my time in the children’s center instead of classes so I applied for part-time than full-time, working with toddlers and becoming a the 3 year olds lead teacher. In 2012 I had my daughter and before she turned one she too attended the children’s center. In the 4 years I worked at Midland college’s Helen Greathouse children’s center I learned so much, this center was my stepping stone into early childhood and I’m forever blessed. In 2015 then saw an opportunity for more growth at a new center that was opening in Midland and became apart of the first staff opening for bright horizons the childcare center for Pioneer Natural Resources. Here I continued my early childhood growth where I worked with toddlers and infants. In 2016 I had my son and unfortunately, he wasn’t able to attend the center with my daughter and me and I just couldn’t part with him. So after returning to work after my maternity leave I lasted a day before I put my 2-week notice in. During this downtime, I helped my dad with his business and took a business class where I came up with a business plan for a daycare center, this is where the idea was born after doing more research in December 2017 I applied to become a listed childcare home bring with me everything I’ve ever learned about childcare and adding a little bit of personal touch, I opened my heart and my home to provide quality care and in January 2021 I became a registered childcare home. Early childhood will always have a place in my heart and I truly love what I do. I continue my learning and growth each year with trainings and classes I do on my own to make sure my care is top notch.
